Mathematical Colloquia

The Brazilian Mathematical Society conducts the organization of the Mathematical Colloquia in the five regions of the country (North, Northeast, West Central, Southeast and South), prioritizing into each of them its less developed subregions. The main aim is to disseminate Mathematics throughout Brazil, in all its lines: research, teaching, applications and divulgation. The Regional Colloquia have a wide target audience, including students of all levels, teachers, professors and researchers of Mathematics and related areas, throughout the national territory, with much emphasis placed on the respective region.

The choice of each Colloquium’s place is made by the SBM Board of Directors, according to proposals from regional institutions interested in carry out the event. The SBM advertises the Regional Colloquia on its website, in its publications and among its members. The Colloquia are distributed in a biennial cycle, in tune with the Biennal of Mathematics (organized by SBM in the even numbered years) and the Brazilian Mathematical Colloquium (organized by IMPA in the odd numbered years), following the approximated calendar below:

  • West Central Region –  last four months of odd numbered years
  • South Region – first four months of numbered even years
  • Norht Region – second four months of even numbered years
  • Northeast Region – last four months of even numbered years
  • Southeast Region – first four months of odd numbered years
